Norway's second-largest island, situated in Troms county roughly 70 kilometres south of Tromsø, and often described as a miniature of the entire Norwegian landscape within a single island. The western coast presents a dramatic fjord-and-mountain topography closely resembling Lofoten, while the eastern side is lower and more fertile. The Senja National Tourist Route, one of 18 designated scenic routes in Norway, runs along the island's most spectacular section of coastline.
