A fishing village on the south side of Austvågøya island in the Lofoten archipelago, connected to the main island by a series of bridges across low islets. The village is built across two small islands that create a distinctive linear layout, and its colourful boat houses and a football pitch built on a rocky outcrop surrounded by sea are frequently cited as emblematic of the Lofoten character. Its harbour is sheltered by the Festvåg headland to the west.
