Gjógv is a small village at the northeastern tip of Esvágoy, built around a narrow natural harbour formed by a gorge in the cliff — the village name means 'gorge' in Faroese. Traditional grass-roofed houses cluster above the gorge harbour, and steep hills rise behind the settlement. It is widely regarded as one of the most picturesque villages in the Faroe Islands and is accessible by road from Eiði.
