Slættaratindur at 882 metres is the highest peak in the Faroe Islands, rising from the centre of Esvágoy island. On clear days the summit provides views of all the main islands in the archipelago and far out over the North Atlantic. The ascent follows a ridge from the road above Eiði and does not require technical climbing equipment, making it a popular challenge for experienced hill walkers.
