Meganebashi, or Spectacles Bridge, is a stone double-arched bridge over the Nakashima River in central Nagasaki. Built in 1634 under a Chinese Zen priest, it is regarded as one of the oldest stone arch bridges in Japan, and its twin arches reflected in the water form the eyeglass shape that gave it its name. The surrounding riverside is lined with several historic stone bridges within walking distance. Visitors search the embankment stones for a naturally heart-shaped block set among the masonry, a popular local detail on the walk.
