Lincoln Center on Manhattan's Upper West Side is the largest performing arts complex in the United States, developed in the 1960s across a cluster of modernist buildings around a central plaza and fountain. It is home to many leading institutions, including the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic and the New York City Ballet, along with theatres, a film society and the Juilliard School. Its travertine facades, reflecting pools and outdoor stages make the campus a landmark in itself.
