The Menara Alor Setar is a telecommunications and observation tower in the northern Malaysian city of Alor Setar, completed in 1997 and rising about 165 metres. It is the tallest structure in the state of Kedah and a defining landmark of the flat rice-growing plains that surround the city. An observation deck and a revolving restaurant near the top look out over the paddy fields, the Kedah River and the distant mountains toward the Thai border. The tower is used as a gathering point to sight the crescent moon.
