The Tianjin Radio and Television Tower, known locally as the Tianta, is a telecommunications and observation tower in the northern port city, completed in 1991 and rising about 415 metres. For a time one of the tallest towers in Asia, it sits on an artificial lake and is reflected in the surrounding water, an unusual setting among broadcast towers. A high-speed lift carries visitors to an observation deck and a revolving restaurant with views across the sprawling city and the Hai River.
