The Mirador de Colón is a monument to Christopher Columbus at the lower end of La Rambla in Barcelona, erected for the Universal Exhibition of 1888. A bronze statue of the explorer points out to sea from atop an ornate iron column about 60 metres tall, ringed at the base by allegorical figures and reliefs. A small lift runs up the inside of the column to a cramped viewing gallery just below the statue, giving views over the old harbour and the Rambla stretching inland toward the medieval city.
