World Cup Park is a chain of connected parks in western Seoul, created for the 2002 football tournament on the site of a vast former landfill along the Han River. The reclamation turned mountains of waste into landscaped hills, meadows and wetlands, now praised as a model of ecological restoration. Its sections include reed marshes, a sky park famed for autumn silver grass, and riverside recreation areas. Trails, viewpoints and seasonal flowers draw walkers, and the dump-to-green transformation defines its identity.
