Beijing Olympic Forest Park was created for the 2008 Games at the northern end of the city's central axis, forming the largest green space within the urban core. Divided by a ring road into two sections linked by a landscaped land bridge, it contains woodland, wetlands, a sizeable lake and a hill offering wide views. Designed with ecological aims, it supports migrating birds and native plantings alongside running tracks and cycling routes. It is a favourite spot for weekend joggers and families from the surrounding high-rise districts.
