The Parque del Capricho is a romantic garden in northeastern Madrid, created at the end of the eighteenth century for the Duchess of Osuna. It blends French parterres, Italian features and an English landscape park across a single estate. Winding paths lead past a lake with a temple, a hermitage, a maze and follies including a small classical temple to Bacchus. A civil war bunker lies concealed beneath the grounds. The garden opens only on weekends and holidays and limits visitor numbers to preserve its calm.
