The Parque Juan Carlos I is a large contemporary park in northeastern Madrid, opened in 1992 near the trade fair grounds and airport. Its modern design centres on a ring-shaped canal and an olive grove of ancient transplanted trees. Scattered across the lawns are abstract sculptures by international artists, forming an open-air art collection. A small tourist train, an auditorium and seasonal fountain shows draw families, while the park's wide open layout offers long views toward the surrounding districts.
