The Nasrullah Mosque is the largest mosque in the northern Anatolian city of Kastamonu, built in 1506 by a local judge in the Ottoman classical tradition. It stands at the centre of the old town beside a historic bridge over the Nasrullah stream, with a broad domed prayer hall and a pair of ablution fountains in its courtyard. The surrounding square, ringed by old wooden houses and shops, has long been the social heart of the town. Its harmonious proportions and central setting make it the defining monument of Kastamonu.
