The Kisumu Museum in western Kenya presents the culture and natural environment of the Lake Victoria region. Its displays cover the customs, crafts and daily life of the Luo and neighbouring peoples, including a full-scale reconstructed homestead illustrating traditional dwellings and social organisation. Sections on regional wildlife feature live snakes, fish tanks and preserved specimens. Exhibits also address prehistory and the ecology of the lake basin.
