This grand Victorian building at the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth streets was long the heart of Melbourne's postal service and one of the city's most recognisable landmarks. Built in stages from the 1860s, it rises through three tiers of columns to a clock tower that has marked time over the busy retail district for generations. After a fire, the interior was restored and repurposed for retail and dining while keeping its ornate facade. Its steps remain a popular city meeting point.
