This colonial country house at the foot of Monserrate hill was gifted to Simón Bolívar in 1820 and now operates as a museum devoted to the independence leader. Whitewashed walls, wooden balconies and terraced gardens surround rooms furnished in early nineteenth-century style, displaying period furniture, weapons and personal effects. The estate lets visitors picture domestic life during the young republic. Its hillside setting, shaded by tall trees and framed by the mountains, makes it a calm stop between the centre and the cable car station.
