Housed in a former French barracks and prison dating from 1704 in central St. George's, this small museum covers the island's history from Amerindian settlement through the colonial and plantation eras to independence. Exhibits include pre-Columbian artefacts, sugar and rum industry relics, and a marble bathtub said to have belonged to Joséphine Bonaparte. The stone building itself is among the oldest surviving structures in the capital. Displays trace Grenada's economy, culture, and the events of the 1979 revolution.
