Standing at the easternmost tip of Barbados, this red-and-white lighthouse was built in 1875 to warn ships approaching the exposed Atlantic coast. It occupies a low cliff where waves have carved blowholes and inlets into the coral rock. The surrounding headland is one of the first points on the island to catch the sunrise, and the open clifftop offers uninterrupted views along the wild windward shore. The tower itself is a landmark for mariners rounding the eastern point.
