The oldest surviving fortification on New Providence, a small stone fort built in the mid-eighteenth century to guard the eastern approach to Nassau harbour. Briefly captured by American forces during the Revolutionary War, it retains its cannon and low ramparts overlooking the water. Compact and easily visited, it sits beside a popular local beach where Bahamian families gather at weekends. The fort offers a quieter counterpart to the larger hilltop defences of the city and a direct link to the island's early military past.
