This eighteenth-century palace on Madero street is famous for its exterior sheathed almost entirely in blue-and-white Talavera tiles from Puebla, a rare and costly display of wealth by its noble owners. Inside, a covered courtyard framed by arcades and a grand painted staircase mural by José Clemente Orozco reward those who step off the street. For over a century the building has housed a landmark restaurant, allowing visitors to sit beneath the tiled arches. Its facade remains one of the most photographed in the historic centre.
