Housed in the grand 1887 Union Pacific depot at the foot of Cheyenne's main street, this museum tells the story of the transcontinental railroad and the role of the railroad in creating the city. The Romanesque Revival building, with its clock tower, was restored as a centerpiece of downtown revitalization. Exhibits cover railroad operations, the workers who built and ran the line, and Cheyenne's growth as a rail hub. Model railroads and interactive displays engage families, and the plaza outside hosts community events and markets.
