Completed in stages beginning in 1888, Wyoming's capitol in Cheyenne is a Renaissance Revival building capped by a gold-leafed dome visible across the plains. A recent multi-year restoration returned much of the interior to its historic appearance, uncovering stenciling and refinishing the legislative chambers. Statues on the grounds honor Wyoming's identity as the first state to grant women the vote. Sandstone quarried in the region gives the exterior its warm tone.
