This colonial brick meetinghouse in downtown Boston was built in 1729 as a Puritan place of worship but became famous as a stage for revolutionary protest. In December 1773 thousands gathered here before marching to the harbor to dump British tea into the water in the Boston Tea Party. As the largest indoor gathering space in the town, it hosted fiery debates over colonial rights. Now a museum and Freedom Trail landmark, its tall galleried interior preserves the setting where words helped ignite a revolution.
