Wadsworth Atheneum

Founded in 1842, this Hartford institution is the oldest continuously operating public art museum in the United States. Its castellated Gothic Revival building and later additions house a broad collection spanning European Old Masters, American painting from the Hudson River School, Baroque works, and modern and contemporary art.
