The Cathedral of the Holy Saviour of Luanda, also known as the Sé Cathedral, is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Luanda, a whitewashed baroque building dating from the mid-eighteenth century. Its twin bell towers and simple classical façade rise in the old lower town near other colonial monuments. As one of the principal early churches of the capital, it reflects the long history of Catholicism in Angola and remains an active place of worship. The cathedral is a fixture of the historic centre and its calendar of religious observance.
