The Ilha de Luanda, often called the Ilha do Cabo, is a long sandy spit enclosing the bay of the Angolan capital, lined with beaches, restaurants and bars that make it the city's main leisure destination. Once home to fishing communities, it now draws residents and visitors to its shores facing both the open Atlantic and the calmer bay. The palm-fringed strip offers seafood, nightlife and views back across the water to the skyline and the Marginal. It functions as Luanda's principal seaside escape within the urban area.
