The Cathedral of Notre-Dame is the principal Catholic church of Bangui and seat of the archdiocese, a brick landmark rising above the low skyline of the Central African capital. Built in the colonial era, its warm masonry and twin towers make it one of the city's most recognisable buildings. The cathedral gained wider attention when it served as a place of interfaith gestures during periods of conflict in the country. It remains a centre of religious life and a symbol of Bangui's endurance through political turmoil.
