La Pyramide is a striking modernist office building in the Plateau district of Abidjan, designed by the Italian architect Rinaldo Olivieri and completed in the 1970s. Its distinctive stepped, pyramidal form was intended as a covered market and commercial centre, a bold experiment in tropical modern architecture. Though its commercial function faded, it remains a celebrated landmark of the city's mid-century building boom and a notable example of post-independence design.
