State House is the official seat of the President of Sierra Leone, occupying a commanding position on the hills above central Freetown. The building serves as the executive office of government and the venue for state functions and the reception of dignitaries. Its elevated site near the historic core of the capital overlooks the harbour and the old settlement below. As the physical embodiment of national authority, State House features prominently in the country's political life within a wider government precinct of ministries.
