In the village of El Eubbad above Tlemcen, this fourteenth-century complex surrounds the tomb of a revered Andalusian mystic and includes a mosque and madrasa of exceptional refinement. The entrance is framed by a portal of carved stucco, glazed tile and a bronze-clad door, considered a masterpiece of Marinid decorative art. Pilgrims have long climbed to the shrine, and its shaded courtyard offers a serene retreat above the city. The ensemble ranks among the most beautiful pieces of medieval religious architecture in all of Algeria.
