The Tomb of Baba Taher honours an eleventh-century Persian mystic and poet in the city of Hamadan, marked by a modern octagonal mausoleum of stone and turquoise-tiled arches raised on a low mound. The structure, rebuilt in the twentieth century, sits within a public garden and has become a symbol of the city. Its open arcaded form lets visitors circle the grave and read verses attributed to the poet nearby. Visitors can rest in the surrounding park and pay respects at the resting place of a figure beloved in Iranian folk culture.
