One of the oldest mosques in Jeddah, standing in the historic Al-Balad district and named for the founder of a major school of Islamic law. Rebuilt and extended over the centuries, it is distinguished by a square stone minaret thought to be among the oldest surviving structures in the old town. The interior preserves traditional timber columns and a quiet, low-ceilinged prayer hall. Set among the coral-stone houses of the old quarter, the mosque remains an active place of worship and a key monument of Jeddah's medieval fabric.
