A tall coral-stone merchant house in the historic Al-Balad district of Jeddah, built in the nineteenth century for a prominent trading family. Its facade is distinguished by projecting wooden latticework balconies known as rawashin, carved to allow air and shade in the humid climate. The wide interior staircase was famously built to allow camels to carry goods to the upper floors. Restored as a cultural venue, the house is one of the best-preserved examples of old Hejazi domestic architecture and a highlight of the historic quarter.
