A village in the scenic Yeghegis valley of the Vayots Dzor region of southern Armenia, surrounded by an exceptional density of medieval monuments. Within and around it stand several old churches, carved crosses and, notably, a rare medieval Jewish cemetery whose gravestones bear Hebrew inscriptions, evidence of a once-thriving community. The green valley, ringed by mountains, offers hiking among the historic sites. The mix of churches, the Jewish burial ground and the pastoral landscape rewards travellers.
