A long seaside promenade running along the Caspian shore in Baku, laid out in the early 20th century and greatly extended in recent decades. Landscaped with gardens, palms and fountains, it is a favourite place for residents to walk, especially in the evenings. Along its length stand attractions including a carpet museum shaped like a rolled carpet, an amusement park, a musical fountain and a modern shopping and dining complex. The promenade offers open views over the bay and links many of the waterfront landmarks of the capital.
