A large Friday mosque in Shahrisabz whose name means blue dome, built in the fifteenth century by Ulugh Beg in memory of his father. Its wide turquoise cupola rises above a squat brick structure fronted by a tiled portal, forming the counterpart to the neighbouring memorial complex. Standing in the historic centre of the town linked to Amir Timur's birthplace, it belongs to the ensemble of Timurid monuments that earned the district heritage recognition. The restored dome remains a landmark of the old town.
