The largest mosque in Kyrgyzstan and one of the biggest in Central Asia, opened in Bishkek in 2018 and built with Turkish support in an Ottoman-inspired style. Its cascade of domes and four tall minarets can accommodate tens of thousands of worshippers across the prayer hall and courtyard. The interior is finished with calligraphy, carpets and chandeliers in the manner of classical Turkish mosques. Its scale and design set it apart from the country's older, more modest houses of worship.
