The Bindhyabasini temple sits on a small wooded hill in the old bazaar of Pokhara and is the city's oldest and most important Hindu shrine, dedicated to a form of the goddess Durga. A white domed sanctum crowns the rise, surrounded by subsidiary shrines and reached by stone steps through a lively market quarter. The elevated grounds catch cool breezes and, on clear days, framed views of the Annapurna peaks. Weekends and festivals bring crowds of worshippers with offerings.
