Khokana is a traditional Newar village near Bungamati, recognised for its preserved medieval layout and its long-standing mustard-oil pressing industry using wooden presses. A single broad main street forms the spine of the settlement, lined with tall brick houses and punctuated by the Shikali Mai temple standing apart in the surrounding fields.
