In the delta of southern Bangladesh lies a cluster of fifteenth-century mosques and mausoleums founded by the Muslim saint Khan Jahan Ali. The domed brick buildings, most famously the many-domed Sixty Dome Mosque, blend Turkic, Persian and local Bengali styles amid a network of old tanks and roads carved from what was once dense forest. The concentration of early Islamic monuments makes it one of the most significant medieval sites in the region.
