The only United Nations cemetery in the world, established in Busan to honor soldiers from many nations who died fighting in the Korean War. Set among lawns, ponds, and memorial walls, it holds the graves of servicemen from the allied contingents, arranged by national plot, alongside a memorial hall, chapel, and a wall inscribed with the names of the fallen. Solemn and meticulously maintained, the grounds are a place of remembrance and diplomatic ceremony, and their quiet gardens contrast with the surrounding busy port city.
