A museum of Chinese railway history occupying a handsome early twentieth-century former station building beside the southern square. The brick-and-stone hall, once the terminus for lines running south from the capital, now displays the development of railways in China through models, photographs, signaling equipment, and historic rolling-stock artifacts. Its architecture is itself part of the exhibit, recalling the era when the railway first reached the walled city, all within easy reach of the main sights.
