The largest public park in the central urban area, laid out in the eastern business district around lakes, lawns, and woodland. Modern in character rather than historic, it combines an amusement zone, sports facilities, and sculpture with wide open spaces used for concerts and festivals. Rowing boats ply its lakes and cycling paths thread the grounds. Its scale and proximity to embassies, office towers, and nightlife make it a heavily used recreational lung for the surrounding neighborhoods and the city's contemporary green space.
