The historic main street of Vladivostok runs along the shore of the Golden Horn bay, lined with late-imperial mansions, banks and trading houses that recall the port's cosmopolitan heyday. Named after an imperial frigate, it passes civic monuments, the old post office and eclectic stone buildings blending European and Far Eastern influences. The avenue links central squares and leads toward the railway terminus that marks the end of the Trans-Siberian line. With cafés and sea glimpses, it forms the backbone of the centre.
