The Corpus Christi Basilica is a towering brick Gothic church that dominates the skyline of the Kazimierz district, founded by King Casimir the Great in the 14th century. Its tall single tower and long buttressed nave reflect the ambitious scale of medieval royal patronage. The interior contrasts the plain brick shell with a lavish Baroque high altar, carved stalls and a boat-shaped pulpit added later. Long the parish church of the once-independent town of Kazimierz, it remains a quieter alternative to the crowded churches nearby.
