Plac Nowy is the informal heart of Kazimierz, Kraków's former Jewish quarter, centred on a round brick market rotunda once used for kosher poultry trade. Today the rotunda's windows serve grilled zapiekanki, the open-faced baguette snacks that draw late-night crowds. Around the square, stalls sell antiques, vintage clothing and produce on market days, while the surrounding streets brim with bars, galleries and cafés. The square captures the bohemian character where Jewish heritage and nightlife coexist.
