Set in a nineteenth-century building on the Willemskade quay overlooking the harbour, this ethnographic museum grew from the collections of a former yacht club and now holds artefacts from cultures across the world. Displays explore art, ritual and daily life from Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas, drawing on Rotterdam's long history as a trading port. The museum has repositioned itself around questions of cultural exchange and colonial legacy. Its riverside terrace and location among historic maritime buildings add to the visit.
