This vast timber structure in the old town, completed in the early 2010s, is one of the largest wooden constructions in the world, its undulating parasol-like canopies rising above a public square. Beneath it lie the excavated remains of a Roman and medieval settlement, displayed in an underground museum. A market hall occupies the ground level, while an elevated walkway winds across the roof offering sweeping views over the historic city. The bold contemporary design provoked debate yet became a defining modern landmark.
