This medieval palace overlooking the main square of Bologna takes its name from Enzo of Sardinia, a captured king of the 13th century held here in comfortable confinement for more than two decades until his death. Its brick walls, battlements and vaulted ground-floor halls preserve the character of a communal-era public building, and it once held the offices of the city guilds and magistrates. The atmospheric interior now serves as a venue for exhibitions and civic events, evoking medieval civic life.
